Biology is not only taught at Presentation College, San Fernando, but students gain hands-on experience through the use of the Biology Lab facilities.

Generations of students were able to use these labs, not just to support their learning, but also as an inspiration for careers in fields like healthcare, biotechnology, education, conservation and others. 

The Presentation College Past Students Association, the PSA, recognised that, due to wear and tear through use over the decades, the facilities of the Biology Labs were starting to deteriorate and felt it necessary to step in. It is proven that students’ learning and retention improves when the learning occurs in a comfortable environment, so the Association led the refurbishment of the labs and its facilities to achieve this end.

Completed within budget, and on-time for the opening of the 2024 Academic year, the refurbished lab saw the removal of broken and damaged workstations and fixtures, replacing them with upgraded, more robust, and functional structures and fittings. It also saw the servicing of the air conditioning units, and the repair of the lab’s lighting.

The PSA continues to work alongside Presentation College, San Fernando to ensure that the students of the College have a complete and high-quality learning experience.
