Project Summary – Court Preservation, Slope Stabilization and Security Upgrades

The Presentation College San Fernando Past Students’ Association (PSA) successfully completed a comprehensive programme of external works surrounding the College’s Tennis, Squash and Basketball Courts, ensuring the long-term protection and sustainability of these important sporting facilities.

The project followed the refurbishment of the Tennis Courts and formed part of the PSA’s broader commitment to restoring and preserving the College’s recreational infrastructure. During the planning process, it became evident that the surrounding environment required significant intervention before further court restoration works could be undertaken.

The first phase of the project saw the removal of two large termite-infested trees whose root systems had begun compromising the structural integrity of the Tennis and Squash Courts. Extensive clearing of overgrown vegetation, vines and accumulated debris then transformed an area that had, over many years, contributed to the deterioration of nearby structures while presenting health, safety and security concerns.

As the clearing works progressed, the PSA uncovered a partially collapsed section of the College’s perimeter wall that had previously been concealed by dense overgrowth. In response, the project was expanded to include slope stabilization works, the construction of a retaining wall, and the installation of new perimeter fencing to restore the security and integrity of the College’s boundary.

The completed works have significantly improved the safety, appearance and resilience of the area while protecting the College’s investment in its sporting facilities. More importantly, they have laid the foundation for the continued restoration and maintenance of the Basketball and Squash Courts, ensuring that current and future generations of students can benefit from safe, functional and well-maintained recreational spaces.

This project reflects the PSA’s continued commitment to preserving and enhancing Presentation College, San Fernando through meaningful infrastructure improvements that deliver lasting value to the College community.
